THE BRAIN PROJECT

T.H.E B.R.A.I.N. Project is a powerful emotional literacy correspondence program designed to create growth, transformation, and opportunity—no matter your circumstances. Originally developed for individuals who are incarcerated, it was created to ensure that access to education and personal development would never be limited by environment. Through this program, countless lives have been impacted, helping participants build self-awareness, improve decision-making, and prepare for a better future.

Today, T.H.E B.R.A.I.N. Project has expanded beyond the walls—making these same life-changing tools available to the wider community. Individuals, families, and organizations can now engage with the program and experience its benefits firsthand. Participants who complete the courses receive a certificate of completion, and for those who are incarcerated, a letter of recommendation to support their continued growth and reentry journey.

No matter where you are, the opportunity to grow is always within reach—and T.H.E B.R.A.I.N. Project is here to guide the way.

Created by 10P Founder Samual Nathaniel Brown, TEIBC reframes criminalized behavior through the lens of emotional illiteracy—revealing how unrecognized, unregulated emotions drive harmful choices. This course breaks down the social, cognitive, and neuro‑emotional mechanisms behind behavior while offering pathways toward transformation rooted in literacy, not blame. Who: Corrections professionals, reentry staff, clinicians, crime survivors, NOK, and individuals seeking to understand the “why” behind behavior. What you’ll gain: A practical framework for identifying patterns, designing interventions, and supporting change.

A foundational, hands‑on introduction to the 10P approach to emotional literacy—learning to name, feel, and use emotions as information rather than obstacles. Who: Anyone new to emotional work or programs adopting the BRAIN Project model. What: Core skills—Four Quadrants, emotion vocabulary, basic regulation, and literacy‑building practices. Why 10P: We teach literacy, not just awareness. As Sam says, “Emotional Literacy is for anyone with a heartbeat.”

A deep dive into the behaviors, choices, and group dynamics that create connection—or isolation. This course explores what we consider the holy grail of rehabilitation: emotionally literate prosocial behavior. Who: Facilitators, peer mentors, and participants navigating group culture. What: Tools to reinforce prosocial norms, reduce harm, and shift culture. Why 10P: We translate complex behavioral science into real‑world language and lived‑experience wisdom, making change believable, accessible, and sustainable.

This course presents the full 10P Emotional Literacy System and clarifies the difference between literacy (naming, expressing, identifying) and intelligence (strategically using emotional tools). Participants learn how both combine to form the complete 10P model. Who: Educators, counselors, leaders, and learners of all levels. What: Clear distinctions, practical exercises, and classroom‑ready applications. Why 10P: Our radical Emotional Literacy System expands and evolves traditional emotional intelligence into a culturally competent, trauma‑aware, practice‑first model.

A trauma‑informed, culturally competent overview of ASPD grounded in the lived experiences of system‑impacted communities. Who: All audiences. What: What ASPD is, how it presents, and how to engage safely and effectively. Why 10P: We balance clinical clarity with humane, emotionally literate facilitation rooted in TEIBC and the 10P ethos.

A compassionate, accessible exploration of trauma’s impact on memory, emotion, behavior, and learning—paired with stabilizing practices that support safety and growth. Who: Anyone working with justice‑impacted people or survivors of complex trauma. What: Core trauma concepts, safety planning, and regulation tools. Why 10P: Delivered through peer‑centered, trauma‑informed methods that prioritize empowerment and emotional safety.

In the 10P Program, effective communication is a pillar of emotional literacy. This course teaches the two essential forms: how we communicate with others and how we communicate with ourselves. Who: Facilitators, families, teams, and anyone seeking healthier relationships. What: Communication scripts, self‑check practices, and emotional alignment tools. Why 10P: We pair internal awareness with real‑time relational skills to build communication that actually works under stress.

A step‑by‑step pathway for building empathy that reduces reactivity, deepens connection, and supports restorative repair. Who: Peers, parents, staff, and anyone rebuilding relationships. What: Listening skills, perspective‑taking, and restorative prompts. Why 10P: We teach practiced empathy within a justice‑aware, trauma‑informed framework—not just theory.

A clear, action‑oriented introduction to restorative values, circle practice, and repairing harm in ways that promote accountability and healing. Who: Teams, community leaders, and individuals harmed or causing harm. What: Circle processes, engagement tools, and reintegration practices. Why 10P: Grounded in lived experience and real institutional practice—templates that work inside and outside the wall

A course that teaches how to honestly assess the scale of harm—from both the harmed and the responsible party—while understanding ripple effects and the responsibilities that follow. Who: Anyone facing or facilitating accountability conversations. What: Impact mapping, responsibility‑taking tools, and emotional calibration. Why 10P: Combines emotional literacy with restorative principles to prevent minimization, denial, and performative apologies.

A pragmatic, emotionally literate approach to de‑escalating tension, negotiating outcomes, and restoring safety. Who: Staff, mediators, facilitators, and peers managing conflict. What: De‑escalation scripts, negotiation strategies, and repair planning. Why 10P: We integrate emotional literacy into conflict work so solutions stick and relationships stabilize.

A practical, emotionally grounded readiness course for parole hearings and reentry. Since 2014, 10P has helped thousands prepare for parole and return home successfully. Who: People preparing for parole or reentry, and their support networks. What: Interview practice, emotional regulation, coping plans, and reentry skills. Why 10P: Taught by facilitators who’ve walked the same path—realistic, empowering, and proven.

A leadership development experience rooted in the 10P belief that true leadership is service, accountability, and legacy. H.O.P.E. becomes a blueprint for influence that uplifts communities and transforms culture. Who: Emerging leaders, peer mentors, and returning citizens committed to long‑term impact. What: Leadership rituals, mentorship models, emotional‑literacy‑based decision‑making, and community project design. Why 10P: Leadership is built from lived experience, emotional skill, and purpose—not titles or theory.

A guided writing journey that transforms storytelling into a tool for healing, identity repair, and emotional literacy. Who: Writers and non‑writers seeking emotional clarity and growth. What: Trauma‑aware prompts, reflective writing practices, and group‑based sharing. Why 10P: Writing becomes a restorative practice—connecting emotional literacy with creativity, community, and healing.

Who: Parents, caregivers, mentors, and families navigating stress or reentry. What: Age‑appropriate coaching, discipline that teaches, emotional modeling, and resilience routines. Why 10P: Designed for families in high‑stress environments—culturally attuned, trauma‑aware, and practice‑first.

The Youth Empowerment Program (YEP) equips young people with the emotional tools they need to navigate life with confidence and clarity. Through emotional literacy, participants learn self-awareness, decision-making, and communication skills that help them avoid negative cycles and step into their full potential.

Why it matters: Early intervention creates lifelong impact—helping youth build a strong foundation for success.
